Hi,

I would like to record local TV. The local cable provider has a setup box with HDMI output.

Is it possible to use NextPVR and a HD PVR 2 Gaming Edition Plus to record (the HDCP free) tv signal (ie is the HD PVR 2 Gaming Edition Plus supported by NextPVR)?

Is channel switching supported with NextPVR and a HD PVR 2 Gaming Edition Plus?

Hope someone has already tried this, would be my preffered setup. Otherwise I would buy the old HD PVR and use a HDMI to Component convertor.

Haven't spend the money yet, and would like to do it right from the start...

Thanks

As long as there is no HDCP content protection on the HDMI, then sure - NextPVR will be able to record the channels using your HD PVR 2 Gaming Edition Plus.

Yes. I can't remember whether that model ships with an IR Blaster or not. If it does, then you can use the included IR Blaster (via the Hauppauge IR Blaster software), other wise you'll need to add an IR Blaster like a media center one, or USB-UIRT etc.

Thanks for the reply.

There are 3 HD PVR 2 models:

HD PVR 2 Gaming Edition Plus (green)
HD PVR 2 (blue)

These models have a connection for an IR blaster, but the IR-transmitter/cable is not included. You have to buy it seperatly.

HD PVR 2 Gaming Edition (green)

Has no connection for an IR blaster.

I'm happy this will work, I can now go searching for a HD PVR 2 Gaming Edition Plus (and a HDCP stripper).

Thanks!!!

I think maybe you would enjoy this HDMI splitter... (nudge, nudge, wink, wink).

There seem to be quite a few splitters that look identical to the one I've indicated, but with different brand names. I'm sure they're all from the same OEM in Shenzhen or something. I see that sub posted in another thread about a similar (like, identical-looking) splitter that's for sale on Amazon.co.uk. That's probably more convenient for someone based in Belgium...
