Hi --

I have used NextPVR for years, and lately it has failed more than it has succeeded.  I assumed that the problem was hardware, so today inserted a new Hauppauge Quad-HD card.  I tuned the WinTV-10 software to get the available channels here, and Hauppauge WinTV-10 will play the live TV in the channels I most want to watch.  I also upgraded NextPVR to the current version (begins with 191) and tried to watch.  Only a black screen.  Is there something I need to do in order to access the hardware with NextPVR?  It's a wonderful program, but right now there's a problem I can't diagnose.

Thank you.

We usually can't without logs. Typically a blackscreen in NextPVR.exe means you haven't install the LAV 32bit decoder and configured it as all the audio and video decoders.

I solved my problem. The confusion arose because when I logged into NextPVR, I saw the channel list and associated materials. I figured (incorrectly) that the list had been moved from the old TV card to the new. Evidently, however, NextPVR maps the channel scan to the MAC address of the TV card rather than to the user name or any some such. What I did was to delete the EPG and the channel list and rescanned the channels in NextPVR. Now it works fine. Interestingly, the scheduler is not mapped to the MAC address; it copied over to the new channel scan automatically.

NextPVR is a wonderful product, but it has its quirks.

It has nothing to do with the MAC address or even a quirk. If you add a new tuner you need to scan it and delete old tuners.
