Hi guys,
I'm attempting to install on a newly built HTPC running Windows 7 64-bit, using a Hauppauge HVR-2250 tuner card. I have installed .NET 4.5.1, DirectX 9.0 (from the R1A patch thread), NextPVR version 3.1.1, and patch R1A. I've tried running with and without the local versions of the VC runtime files, though I have the full redists installed. And yet...

The settings page in NextPVR always shows that DirectX isn't available, though allegedly version 9 is installed, in addition to version 11. And three pages in settings crash like the screen below.

Is there hope? Log files attached. Thanks.

According to the Windows Application Event Log, this is the culprit: "Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC90.CRT,processorArchitecture="x86",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",version="9.0.21022.8" could not be found."

I had installed the 2010 and 2012 Visual C++ Redist packages, both x86 and x64, but this is the 2008 version. I installed the 2008 versions and the errors are gone. So at least some code depends on the older versions of the C++ libraries, and they aren't installed with the program. This might be something to look into.

I suspect maybe the SlimDX components depend on this old CRT.

Very few people have reported this problem though, so it must be a fairly common runtime that most people have already had on their machines.

I think it was determined the NextPVR needs the 2012 runtime files and SlimDX needs 2010. My gut feeling is somehow a time stamp was off on one of the NextPVR dll and it didn't get upgraded by date for 3.1.1

Nope, missed it, obviously. Or rather, I reviewed the prerequisites weeks ago when I was building the system and assumed that a newer msvc runtime would cover it. Same with directx. I didn't even know until reviewing the patch yesterday that a separate dx9 needed to be installed since I already had dx11. It probably only became an issue since it's a new build with very little software installed other than what I need for the HTPC functionality. Growing pains.

The wiki is wrong though, it hasn't been updated for 3.1.1 If 2008 is needed I think that means you have a bad dll.

I had to install 2008 also on my clean installs or I had the same (or similar) crash as he did..... I never thought any more about it as I was rather busy trying to get it all up & running & I also know how bad my memory is these days so just thought I was wrong thinking it wasn't needed any more.
