Hello there!

Just wondering whether anyone can shed any light on the way the scheduled recordings works in this situation...

I've 2x DVB tuners and 1x satellite tuner picking up freesat in the UK.

If I schedule BBC1 to record at 20:00 - no problem.

If I schedule ITV1 to record at 20:00 - no problem.

They are on separate multiplexes, so using both DVB tuners.... if I then choose to record BBC1 HD for example, which is on yet another multiplex, I obviously get a message saying that this isn't possible... However, I do have BBC1 HD on the Satellite tuner available... is there a way to make nPVR pick up that one - perhaps with a dialogue box to say - 'erm, do you want to use this one instead?!' - rather than just say - not possible and me manually select that channel from further down the program guide?

Thanks,
John

I'm not sure I understand question. If your DVB-T tuners are busy recording BBC1 and ITV1, and you try to recording "BBC1 HD", which is a channel you've scanned on your DVB-S tuner, and it's available, then it should record BBC1 HD on your DVB-S tuner.

or did you incorrectly say BBC1 HD here, and really meant BBC1? If so, you can merge these channels if you want, and they'll all be treated as BBC1.

Hi! Thanks for the quick reply and sorry I didn't make my self clear... what I mean is

I've got a recording in progress on DVB (BBC1) - DVB tuner1
I've got a recording in progress on DVB (ITV1) - DVB tuner2

If I then select the BBC1 HD (different multiplex again) from the DVB source, then it obviously can't do it.... but rather than have to go down and select the satelllite version of the same channel, I wondered whether nextPVR would do any sort of clever magic and say, 'can't record BBC1 HD from DVB source as the two DVB tuners are already in use, but hey, there's one available on the satellite, so I'll just use that one!'

?!?! Is that clearer... perhaps this merging of channels thing that you mentioned is something that I need to look into, can I therefore merge the BBC1 HD that is available on DVB and the BBC1 HD that is available on satellite and nextPVR then just chooses the best device to record it on?

Cheers,
John

Yep, if you merge BBC1 HD on you DVB-S and DVB-T sources, then it'd do what you want.
