I have had NextPVR for about 5 months. It stopped working suddenly while I was watching LiveTV and recording at the same time. I tried restarting the service but it still did not work. Instead when starting up the service it either did nothing or just said "Stopped.." I tried restarting my PC but still did not work. I tried to reinstall the newest version but when it reinstalled an error occurred in the middle when the cmd prompt popped up "Process is terminated due to Stackoverflowexception". The installation finished but again when I tried to start the recording service it just said "Stopped.." I tried reinstalling the older version after uninstalling the newest version. The service still said "Stopped.." I also get a timeout error that I attached a screenshot of. when I tried to start it or nothing popped up. I looked in "C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Logs" but I do not see any files in there to post.

Specs: Windows 8.1 64bit Intel I5 4670k 3.4ghz 16gb of RAM GTX 770 2gb 128gb SSD 1tb HDD

Please let me know if you have any suggestions or how to generate an error log. Thanks

If no log file is being generated in C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Logs, then there isn't much to go on.

Maybe try running "nrecord.exe RUN" from the command line to see if it tell us a useful error message.

I've had this a few times when npvr has previously been installed on that same machine...

I got it working by

starting command prompt as administrator.

using the command:

sc delete "NPVR Recording Service"


and then starting the install of npvr again.... also using "run as administrator"

all went smoothly from there...... let us know.

Sub I ran Nrecord.exe from the command line as an administrator and I got the error from the first picture attached


haverer2 iast month when I had problems I tried what you suggested and it worked. I tried it again last night before posting and again tonight, running both as admin, and it still is not working. On install I still get the same error in a command prompt as before, the second attachment shows the stackoverflow error. The service still will not start. Anything else I can try? Thanks for

Run it with that command line I mentioned. RUN is in capital letters:

nrecord.exe RUN

I get the same error "Process is terminated due to StackOverflowException." Am I still running it wrong?

To be honest, I've got no idea what might be causing that. I don't remember any other occurrences of this.

Maybe uninstall, delete the c:\users\public\npvr directory, then reinstall.

whats in your config.xml is it empty or could be corupt (im just guessing this sounds familiar)
regardless rename it to configold.xml or simlar and npvr will create a new one

Ok that worked. I renamed the config.xml file went into the command prompt and did sc delete NPVR Recording Service. THen I re-installed the newest version and it works

Hi,

I have the same error when installing NPVR 3.3.8 on a newly installed Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64 with all the windows updates.

NPVR continued to complete the installation after the error.

Everything appears to be working fine.

I don't have this stack overflow problem with 3.2.9 on my previous Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64 (not updated). Maybe some Windows update is causing this problem?
