I am trying to install NPVRSetup_3_3_8.exe on a Windows 7 64-Bit system and had a problem during the installation. Part way though, it opens what appears to be a DOS type windows and mentions installing NRecord.
After a few seconds, it produced an error message which I am attaching to this. I tried to zip up the Log folder, but WinZip complained a file was busy and did not complete. I rebooted my system and zipped up the log folder
as requested, but it may not contain all the information.

The entire text of the error message is within the attached text file.

A couple of other users have also reported this during install. I'm not sure of the cause yet.

Did you end up with a functional install?

looks like it's working ok now. The later NRecord.log you posted, stamped 2:08pm, shows a normal start followed by a stop a few minutes later (I'm assuming you stopped it to get the logs?). Start the service again and see if you run into any problems configuring the program. the reboot may have fixed whatever went wrong the first time.

I think it's something do with logic that is supposed to set firewall rules, in case the user is a HDHR user.

Yes I stopped it the second time to allow access to zip the Log folder. I uninstalled it and reinstalled a few minutes ago. I also cleared the remaining NPVR data and the 64-bit registry entry.
This time I caught the error message in the DOS box. It was running NRecord.exe INSTALL in the Setup window. The DOS message was Process is terminated due to StackOverflowException.
I assumed NRecord would not have installed properly with the error displayed.

This stuff is all brand new to me. What is a HDHR user?

Actually, I think it may still have installed ok. If you've got the 'NPVR Recording Service' listed in the Windows Services control panel, then you should be ok.

These are a type of network tuner, and the installer creates some firewall rules to make sure NextPVR will be able to talk to that type of tuner in case you're a owner of one of these, or might get one in the future.

I ran the setup program again over the existing install. This time it opened the DOS box and flashed three messages about setting Windows Firewall exceptions. It completed without the error message this time.

Before I posted this thread, I tried installing and some configuration tasks. I ran into several problems, but I thought it may have been related to the NRecord install error.

I recall Unhandled Exceptions when trying to set the channels to use mc2xml and errors trying to process the TVGuide.xml.

Should I open a new thread for each problem? I understand you will need logs and detailed info to analyze what the problems are.

@sub

I am using a Silicon Dust HDHomeRun Extend HDTC-2US (OTA Antenna) which is a network tuner. When I scanned for channels, I did it on the ATSC tuner 0.
NextPVR looks awesome, but everything is new to me. It will take awhile for me to learn the basics.
