EPG Update suggestion

I think that what I wrote was a little unclear.
Winter Hill transmits over 150 channels over 10 frequencies.
However, an NPVR scan with a DVB-T tuner finds 108 of them on just 5 frequencies.
My suggestion was to just scan the 5 frequencies to get the EPG rather than all 10 again.
Hope this clarifies my suggestion.

If you make a 30 minute recording, does it end up with a complete recording on disk? i.e., if you play it in another player like VLC, do you see the full 30 minutes?

This appears to be the HP page for that machine ...

http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/self...el/4228302

and it refers to a AVerMedia H789 TV Tuner Driver ... You could try uninstalling the tuner in Windows Device Manager (ticking the box to uninstall/delete the drivers) and then re-install the tuner using the drivers from the HP website.

That is exactly what NextPVR does.

Right clicked AVerMedia H752 TV Tuner and Selected Properties

I chose to record the full program “Question Time” on BBC1 last night. I selected it from NPVR TV Guide by double click, clicked “Quick Record” and left it to it.

This morning I noted it had been recorded fully in .ts format, was 1:00:20 (h:mConfused) long, 1.9GB, MPEG-2 video.

It played without freezing or other problems on:-
Windows Media Player
Windows Movie Maker
HP Media Smart and best of all on
NVPR Recordings.

Not the tuner driver then !

If Live TV is still a problem, I can only suggest a check of all Settings in NextPVR. In particular, Settings --> Misc specifies the Buffer Directory for the Live TV Buffer (the file that allows pause and rewind of Live TV).

Yes Live TV is still a problem.
It froze again after a minute or so playing BBC1.

Before shutting down NPVR I checked the "Live TV Buffer" file and it contained a 54.5MB video file called Live-BBC ONE N WEST.ts, which was on screen when it froze.

Then I shut down NPVR and checked it again - it was empty.

Does this help?

logs are not here after the freeze
what video decoders are you using maybe try a different one if you have more than one option (note down what you are changing so you can change them back)
also the renderer may a difference and the audio one also try different one there also

your not running out of room on the drive where you have the buffer are you ?

I am still baffled. Some things to try ... In the Guide, select a programme that is in progress and start a Quick Record ... wait for ten or so seconds and then go to Recording --> Pending and watch the in progress recording. This is essentially the same as watching Live TV. Can you successfully watch an in progress recording?

You could try different decoders ... Go to https://github.com/Nevcairiel/LAVFilters/releases and download and install LAVFilters-0.65-Installer.exe and then select LAV as both the video and audio decoders for MPEG2 video and for MPEG1 audio. Then try Live TV again.
