After I reboot my computer, my MVP just keeps searching for the server. If I restart the recording service in "programs" it soon finds the server and everything is OK. It did not used to be like this. I think it happened sometime around the .91 revision. I have it starting 1 MVP in Config. I tried 2 and it does the same thing. Under services, I set the MVPMedia and MVPSvc services set to start manually so I don't have to turn them off. Is this correct? Any thoughts?

I am using a 150mce card and XP home if that helps. This is a work around and I need to fix it before my mother-in-law stays at our house to watch the kids while we are on vacation. She will never get the system started again!

Thanks for the help. This program is great.

When you first reboot, is GBRecordingService.exe listed in your running task list? If not, possibly you'd set your system to manually start the service? This would explain why it starts working only after you click the 'restart service' icon.

Sounds like a dependency service has not started properly. You could bodge it by starting the service after say 60 seconds after the WS boots. However look at the services > Dependencies tab. Sorry I dont have an MVP so I cannot say what its waiting for

Thanks for the quick replies. Recording service shows up on task manager after reboot showing about 23,064k that bounces to 23,056k with no cpu usage. The GB-PVR icon is in the tray at the bottom of the screen but the MVP sust keeps searching for the server.

How would I keep it from starting for 60 seconds? There is nothing on the dependencies tab in Services and it is set to Auto.

You need a copy of waitasec. I have attached a copy. You need to do something like:

####BEGIN######
waitasec.exe 60
net start GBRecordingService.exe
#####END######

Put the above in a batchfile and execute from the start menu.
Waitasec waits for the value passed as an argument. In this case it will wait 60 seconds and then execute the next line. I think you want to start the GBRecordingService.exe.
