FXX has been hit and miss at times. I suppose it depends on what mood the cable company is in. It's not one of the channels I watch very often so I guess it sneaked by me. I chose it as a test because it was the first one in my channel map I maintain which is sorted by QAM channel number.

Sub, would it be possible to add and "Add QAM Channel" button to the QAM device setup dialog box? This would prevent me from having to do a full scan on my HDHomerun Prime if I want to add channels. I think your NextPVR software is going to be the easiest and best WMC replacement. Great Work!

Just a quick note that FOX has moved all of thier channels from 'copy freely' to 'copy once' so only WMC can play these channels:

FX HD
Fox Sports 1 HD
BTN HD
Fox Business Ne
Fox News HD
National Geo HD
Nat Geo Wild HD
FXX HD

I am also looking to get this working. I have been using WMC with Ceton 4 (usb) for a while, and recently dropped cable to just locals and internet.

When I go to devices, I see all 4 tuners listed as "DRI". When I setup each one, it 'scans' and finds 945 channels. It seems to find every channel offered by FiOS instead of the 25-30 I actually get.

I followed the thread and saw that "add QAM" was listed. How do I get this option?

Is there anything I can do to help development of this feature? I'd be willing to offer logs, samples, test, or temporary remote access if necessary!

Update - I added the DLL and now I have the add button. What # are you putting in to the menu which successfully works? And where are you finding a list of the channel numbers from your cable provider? For example, 6.1 ABC has a channel of 23.1146 QAM256 according to WMC. But is there a way to find all of them?

I also have an HD Homerun Prime and can use their software to scan for channels. The other option would be to plug your cable directly into your digital TV and scan for channels. I don't know of any way to scan for channels using the Ceton without a cablecard.

NextPVR can't currently tell which if the Ceton channels are copy-freely, so just lists all the channels. With the HDHomeRun Prime, it will tell me which channels are copy-freely, and the user is given this nice filtered list. Unfortunately the Ceton device doesn't have any equivalent function, so its up to the user to delete any channels they can't receive.

Thanks for those notes!

@Smurph - If I plug in an old (not activated by FiOS) mCard, will I be able to tune clearQAM content?

@Sub - It does not seem to pick up any of the QAM channels during the scan? Is this expected, or do i need to look more closely at the 1000+ it found to identify those I get?

It's only a cablecard channel scan. The only way you can currently add a QAM channel is via the button to manually add them. Unfortunately this device doesn't have drivers that advertise it as a regular QAM device, so there is no QAM scanning capability for this device.

Unfortunately the Ceton doesn't tell me which ones you get, so I've got no way to know. Life is definitely easier for HDHomeRun users...
