I looked to npvr.db3 file generated by NextPVR on my server.
I am not familiar with such files, but when I open it with Notepad I can see that "genres" are available.
Perhaps can that help you ?

Restart the recording service, then start Kodi, then zip and attach the web.log file and I'll take a look if it's sending the genre.

I can see the genre isn't being included in the listing data being sent by the server. Can you try reinstalling 3.6.6 installer, which was updated this morning. It also included that patch I supplied earlier for you. This will make sure the patch was installed.

After installing it, rename xbmc-genre-translation.xml to something like xbmc-genre-translation.xml.old, so it's not used (forcing it to use the textual genre, rather than the original xbmc scheme which used special codes).

If it's still not doing it, post those logs again so I can check the genre is being sent.

Now I have to manage the search module in Kodi TV guide. The search by genres doesn't work properly (for exemple search "film" gives poor results ; this was one of the the best feature in Windows MCE)
