Closed Captions on my recordings do not show up when played in Windows Media player/center.
They show up fine on the pvr player and Wintv 8 player. I have the latest Next pvr version. Should
I use a different Video renderer (using VMR9) or a different MPEG2 decoders (using Microsoft DVT-DVD)?
This isn't a major problem, love the program Smile.

What type of tuner are you using?

Recordings from digital device, cablecard devices, and most hardware encoder analog devices all just have closed captions in the standard place (inside the user data header in video stream), so should be displayable on any probgram

Other analog devices, or HDMI/Component capture devices do not capture closed captions.

I'm not sure what exactly WMP does with closed captions. Do you see closed captions in any .ts files in WMP, even .ts files not captured by NextPVR?

I use hauppauge Wintv dual and Wintv-7164 tuners. Just noticed .ts files I record with the Wintv program, the captions don't show up Windows Media Center or player either but show up in wintv and pvr player.
Must be something with media center/player just not recognizing closed captions in .ts files. Media center records using .wts files format in recording shows and the captions show up fine. Like I said not a big deal , just curious if there was solution. greg

I just also noticed recordings made with Windows Media Center .wts files, the captions don't show up when played in the Next PVR player or Wintv player, I'm weening myself off of Media Center and using Next PVR more now anyway( also Media Center stopped recognizing several digital channels from my cable provider time Warner(Wintv and NextPVR recognizes them all. You can use this program http://sourceforge.net/projects/ccextrac...ctor/0.63/ to extract closed captiond in your PostProcessing.bat. I use Telxcc program to extract .srt subtitles from .ts recordings done by npvr. Most players (including npvr) can display .srt subtitles.

Are you using the analog or digital? The digital recordings for this device will have closed captions included. The analog recordings will have no closed captions.

When it comes to digital recordings, the closed captions etc are part of the encoded bitstream the broadcaster sends (and NextPVR dumps to disk while recording). If a player isn't showing the captions, it'll be a player issue. ie, I'm sure if tried another player like VLC, the close captions wll show up fine.

My problem is that cc show up on live TV but not every time. I have a ATI Wonder TV PCI Combo tuner and WIN10. I found somewhere  that you can disable them using CTRL X and it works but it is annoying. Has anyone seen that bug?
