I have been in contact with my IR blaster software people and my EPG provider Schedules Direct and both have confirmed that the mapping is done in NextPVR and that I will need to get some sort of assistance on how the channels are mapped from NextPVR. First of all I'm using the windows MCE IR blaster/transceiver and I've found through testing that what is happening is my IR blaster software works perfectly but in the NextPVR channel setup it has what is called the 'source chanel' and the general field entry where you put what channel number the STB needs to change the channel to in order to be on the correct channel. However the channel actually gets changed to the 'source channel' and not the STB number that I have mapped to the correct EPG info so that the channels guide info is correct.. In the end everything works just fine only the channel it is changing the STB to matches the source channel and not the STB channel so if I can get this source channel mapping issue corrected all will be fixed. If you changed your blaster settings you will need to edit each channel to use the new parameters not just the default that shows in config.

Thanks for the reply Martin but all my blaster settings are all copied to the new channels but that is not what the problem is, it's an internal mapping issue in NextPVR according to my IR blaster software people who wrote me a fairly comprehensive explanation. I'll see if I can link to that email and posted it here it may explain the situation a little better.

What exactly is going wrong? The description up to now has not been at all clear.

Give me a concrete example, like "I'm asking NextPVR to watch CNN on channel 11, but the set top box changes to channel 110". Post the logs showing that attempt too.

I've actually just figured it out and it's working fine now. The problem boils down to me having an EPG schedule with channel numbers assigned to them already. So I have been picking the correct EPG channel and then assigning it a STB channel number but that leaves the source channel still assigned to the channel number assigned by the EPG and that is the channel the STB changes to. I've just found that if I make the channel myself that I can then choose which source source channel to give it and i can then mapp the epg information to the source channel that I've assigned. So all is well now, sorry for the convoluted explanation as I was not really sure what was going on but the messages up until now are as clear as I can make it. Thanks for everyone's assistance and the problem is rectified.
