Must Stop NPVR Service then Start NPVR Service after reboot

The recording service IS set to autostart.
Upon reboot, the service is "STOPPED"

Is the nrecord.log updated after reboot? ie, has Windows tried to start it after your reboot?

Once I close all error messages and "Start Service" I finally get the services started window.

Is this in the Windows 'Services' control panel, or using the 'NPVR Restart Service'?

Does it show as 'running' in Services after a reboot? Can you see nrecord.exe in the process list?

Ah, ok - so you don't have to "stop service and then start service" as mentioned above.

I'd check Windows Event Viewer next, for info about why the service didn't start.

This worked for me. I also updated the recovery settings in services.msc as suggested in post #29 in this thread:

just a complete hunch but try (in services) setting the recording service to Automatic (Delayed start)
