Help with TV Guide needed please

OK, so let me throw this at you.

Right now I have a digital receiver, through a company that sounds like 'Hell', and their cable line is connected directly into this digital receiver. That signal is sent to my amp/receiver through a HDMI cable, then output to my TV. The cable which goes into my digital receiver somehow needs to connect to my PC via one of the mentioned capture devices, is that correct?

There is no way around this?
