Hi NPVR Support

I have been using NPVR for some years now and thought I was quite familiar with it, until the last few weeks.
I have been recording a long running series 'Formula 1' which has this season moved to UK Channel 4.
When I set it up to record on this channel I could not find any appropriate thumbnail when I searched for one using the 'Find More/Listings/TVDB' in the TV listings plugin, so I added a logo to the 'Shows' folder.
This is no problem the logo appears with Pending programs until every time a recording event occurs for this series, then it saves a 'Formula 1.fanart.jpg' picture file and a 'Formula 1-catalog.xml' file to the 'Shows' folder. If I delete them they just reappear next time!
I have searched everywhere to try to find the instruction that is causing this to happen and remove it, but I just cannot find it.
Can you help me with this please as I am finding it frustrating, I do not really want to completely uninstall NPVR and remove all traces to have to reinstall and set it all up from scratch to resolve this issue..

Many thanks
Bob

It's because you're deleting the "Formula 1-catalog.xml' that it's trying to download art work again. Just leave that file in the shows directory.

Hi Sub
Well sorry but that does not work!!
I left in the '*-catalogue.xml' file and just deleted the '*.fanart.jpg' picture, but every time the NPVR records another episode it just downloads the picture again!!
Where is the instruction stored that creates the '*-catalogue.xml'? and can I remove it, or is there a way to stop it?
Many thanks
Bob

That doesn't really tally up with how it works.

You can't stop it creating the catalog file.

Basically when it's looking for artwork for a show, it first looks if there is already a catalog file for this show, if there is, it loads the file, and uses the local artwork files referenced in that file. If there isn't a catalog file, then it goes out to the internet looking for artwork, and will write the catalog file (so that it doesn't have to do the internet search the next time).

Hi Sub
From your previous answer I thought it a bit funny, but I have two or three recordings that do this and even if under artwork settings I de-select artwork and banners etc it still puts an artwork picture in my 'Shows' folder.
I deleted the *.artwork.jpg file and left the .xml file but it still managed to put in a new *.artwork.jpg in fact there were two or three of each picture *.artwork 2.jpg and *.artwork 3.jpg (if I remember the format correctly.
Anyway I have deleted all the pictures *.artwork.jpg and left all the .xml files in place and will keep a watch on what happens and if necessary take some screen shots....
Pity I can't find a way stop it happening at source!!!!!
Many thanks

Hi Bob,

Try a look in here C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Thumbs (Cashed .xml's and .jpg's)
You can use search to find text in the XML Files, but you will have to look at each .jpg file till you find the one / ones to delete. Big Grin
Regards,
Mark
