HI,
I have installed NPVR and have been having some issues getting it to work. I have an AVerMedia H752 TV Tuner Card running Windows 10 in Adelaide Australia. When I try to watch TV NPVR locks up. In fact when it is just sitting idle it will eventually lock up (showing "not responding"). I have tried everything I know (very new to this) including a fresh install (which does not seem to be so fresh as all of my previous setting magically appear on re-installation). I have zipped and attached my log files if anyone can help me.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Cotty.

Does the software that comes with your tuner card work?

Also your screen res. is odd Rendering for screen size: 1776x1000 have you tried anything closer to video standards?

Two of your logs seem to end with this message:

2017-02-26 18:54:01.696 [DEBUG][1] Getting Decoders for type: MEDIATYPE_Audio, subtype: MEDIASUBTYPE_DOLBY_AC3

which makes me think maybe there is something screwy about one of your AC3 decoders, but I'm not 100% sure how you'd fix that.

Are you able to view the Settings->Decoders screen? What AC3 decoder do you have selected?

Thank you for your replies,

I have changed my Resolution to 1920X1080 (recommended by my system), and this did not change anything. I had originally set the 1770 resolution so that my whole desktop appears on the display (rather old Flat screen TV with no organic resolution setting other than 16:9 or letterbox..). I can get into the setting page and if i do it before NPVR crashes it will run away happily until I exit settings and try to look at the EPG or live Tv. I have the ffdshow audio decoder for AC3 audio which I installed last night, prior to this I was using (or attempting to use) LAV decoders.

I do not have the software that came with the tuner as it was pre-installed into my system when I got it. It did work on Window MCE until microsoft decided what we wanted for us.

Anything that I can try would be greatly appreciated as I am stuck with an LG Blueray with built in DVR which is not the most usable beasty.

Thanks Again

Sub,
Well I almost have it figured out, I had to run the windows compatibility manager to get NPVR to work (running in Win 8.1 compatibility mode now). While I can record and playback I am not quite there yet though as now i get a freeze when watching live TV, the freeze happens at a constant 20ish seconds (counting in my head). I would like some idea of what to check, I have already checked the buffer file for permissions as suggested on some really early posts and this seems to be OK, i have again attached log files, your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in Advance

Most people have no luck with LAV Video for NextPVR recordings, try another decoder, especially the Microsoft MS DTV-DVD decoder if you have it.

Thank you, mvallevand for your response and assistance. I am getting closer, i have changed the decoders as suggested and I have also put a folder in C drive to act as a buffer directory and i got it to work once (I got very excited as thought i had cracked it!!!). I feel that I have something very minor going on with my recording service as if I am patient I get the following message

"The Tuner you were using was required for a recording. Would you like to switch to watching a recording, or exit back to the main menu?"

There is no option to continue watching recording only exit to menu which doesn't work. SO I am gathering I have a problem associated with the recording service. I have tried stopping and starting it with no luck. Incidentally while I was typing this NPVR returned to the EPG page by itself - weird??

Again I have posted my logs and I appreciate any help I can get.

Regards

Your aren't clear in your post but the message sounds like the Kodi message and is common if you use time shifting. You might want to check the Kodi sub-forum here, that is a common unresolved issue.

Hi Marti,
I am at it again trying to get this thing working. There is no point checking into Kodi because NPVR won't run organically, I only get about 20-30 secs of live TV before the screen freezes, I have been trying different setting but nothing seems to work. If I do go to Kodi and try I get an error mesg that NPVR plug in not available at about the 20-30 second mark.

thanks
