I think I found a problem.

I have had GB-PVR speratically crash on me. So I moved it to it's own computer. A 466Mhz, 128meg, 60gig, Windows 2000 computer with only Windows 2000 (and all it's patches), the WinTV-350 software, and GB-PVR.

Now it's crashing seems to be much more reproducable. On the fast computer (2.6gig) it's speratically very busy and that seemed to have some affect on GB-PVR crashing. Now on the 466, all works fine but when I do a few things. Moving arround in the menus when the recording service kicks in is a common time for it to die. More Likely is when the recording service is just finishing a recording. If I'm moving around in the menus it dies (completely lockes up the computer, must poweroff).

Anyway. I would think that if you had older slower computer you could make GB-PVR MUCH more stable. since it's crashing/locking up is more reproducable.

Any Idea?

Since most of what you see and do is stored in memory, and not read from the files when you run GB, a little more ram may help.

Thanks,

Maybe so, But that missed the point. No amount of ram would be enough if GB-PVR is co-existing with other applications. I don't know of anyway of telling windows to only let one program have a specific amount of real ram.

Would be better to change the program not to crash the computer when some error code is returned and I thought the info would help (sub?) stabalize the program.

You really don't have enough to spare outside the OS.

The program is stable. There are error messgages and the like, but almost no one is having crashes like you're describing. I look at the setup you describe, and I see a system possibly dumping the app because it doesn't have enough ram to run it.

I'm out of ideas. Maybe sub will know of something else.

Hi Mate. You are well outside the spec for this application. Move it back to where you had it, have a differnt profile if you need to and try again. You are not comparing apples wirh apples
