Hi All,

New user here, thanks for accepting me!

I installed NextPVR on my Windows 10 machine last week and set it up with my IPTV service (added URLs for .m3u and xmltv/EPG). I then scheduled some recordings to test it out. I'm finding most if not all of the recordings seem to be off by an hour (it actually records the show 1hr before the show I set it to record).

So I'm wondering, Does NextPVR auto-detect my time zone (and does it account for daylight savings)? Or is there an option or config file somewhere I need to modify? I know in TiviMate there is an "Offset" option but I didn't see anything like this in the NextPVR settings or in the config file so presumably it is smart enough to know where I am located and adjusts itself.

Thanks,
Dan

Over the last 10+ years of NextPVR, we've never needed a offset setting. NextPVR just asks Windows to convert the time information. For relies on you having Windows set to the correct timezone, and you need to have it set to auto adjust for daylight savings.

Hmm.. Everything appears to be set correctly in Windows. Is it possible for the xmltv file to be off by an hour?

Yeah, could be, but unlikely though. Most IPTV providers use UTC times for the xmltv listings. NextPVR stores the listings as UTC, but whenever it needs to display times (like viewing the TV Guide etc), it'll ask Windows to convert the UTC time to local time.

In Win10 it pretty much relies on these two settings, which is conveniently set correctly for about 99.9% of users right out of the box.

Well I assumed it was set correctly because the time was accurate, turns out I had the auto-update for DST turned off.. I'll turn it on and try again.

I'm wondering if this is related to the other problem I'm having.. Whenever I try to update the EPG it only gives me 24hrs of data. I'm using the same xmltv URL in TiviMate and I get a week.

Great - I'm sure that'll be it.

Are you sure? Is it the same URL? NextPVR will pull in all the listings in the xmltv file. Most IPTV providers only have a day of listings in their xmltv file. If you're positive it should have more, PM me the url, and I'll double check for you.

PM sent. I also checked with my provider and they claim it should be 7 days as long as I'm updating every night (which I am). Thanks for the help!

In that xml file, the last listing is on 2019-04-25, so no there is definitely not a week of listings in that file. Most channels only have only a single day of listings.

Interesting.. I guess my service provider doesn't know what they are talking about. Maybe I should consider just using schedulesdirect.. Seems like people have had good luck with that service.

Anyway, thanks for checking. Apologize for the inconvenience.

HIGHLY recommended for painless usage and operation concerning up to 14 days of data. Worth the price in gold, and then some IMO. You can set up a seven day trial with them to make sure they can provide what you need.

Best of luck!
