This is confusing me big time. Tues. night I recorded a programme on BBC2 and came to watch it later - the picture was badly 'snowy' kinda like the aerial wasn't plugged properly (sound was fine). I checked the connections on the back of the PC but they looked OK and a couple of other recordings that day (on other channels) were fine. I didn't pickup on this being a BBC2 issue until Wed. night when I recorded 3 programmes on BBC2 and all had the same snowy appearance to the picture. Last night, one recording - same thing and another late AM today.

I just brought up Live TV for BBC2 and all is OK as it has been at other times over the past few days after I discovered the snowy recordings.

I don't understand this.

I think they may be working on the Crystal Palace transmitter, although the BBC website doesn't say anything about BBC2 work at Crystal Palace just the radio transmitter BBC Engineering Work

I don't normally watch analogue but I've had a look a couple of times tonight and it does seem worse than I remember no way as good as BBC1, I also use the Crystal Palace transmitter BTW

We get strange problems on various channels as well. I get my feed from Hannington and a couple of times I have recorded something and its either been all snow or the odd test card appears in the middle of the show! It was in the middle of the night though (about 3 or 4 AM) so its to be expected

Thanks guys. I've now seen it (or at least the possible cause) on Live TV. It's not so noticeable on the PC monitor in a window but through the MVP there appears to be a bluey/black blotchy interference on BBC2 only which is better or worse at different times of the day. I don't understand why it is recorded as a white snowy interference but that's all I can think of. The other channels are sharp. It's annoying, we record a fair number of programmes from BBC2 - just have to hope they fix whatever is wrong at the transmitter in the near future.

Cheers,
Brian

It could be that you are not tuned in properly. Have you looked to see what the channels are lately?

According to the BBC website, Crystal Palace BBC2 is channel 33 which is what I've always used. I suppose I could try entering the freq. in MHz in the Capture Source page and then fine tune it. I can't remember if I can do this for my 350 & 500 - I know some cards you can.

A lot closer to home than the transmitter. My chassis fans each have a three-way switch for speed control. It turns out that switching one of the rear 80mm fans to Medium speed is interfering with BBC2 - it has no effect on any other channel and the other rear 80mm fan and the front 120mm fan don't cause any interference on any channel at any speed. I think it was the weekend before last when the weather warmed up a bit that I notched the fan speeds up - the recording of Fred Dibnah last Tuesday was the first on BBC2 after I did that. Aaaargh!!!
