When to use "add sd channel lineup" button

You don't get that with ATSC scans in linux for a local recorder. You need to pick your dtv-scanning table option us-ATSC...062009 , scan and wait 8 minutes in your browser. After picking the channels you want then you use Channels-Advanced Tools Auto Map and then pick the option for mapping with SD.

I don't get the guide listings until the devices are scanned, the channels selected, the AutoMap done, and I request an EPG update on the About page. The logs I have don't go back far enough...I did a number of restarts in between.

Yeah, that's normal in the US with Schedules Direct. ie, you scan your device for channels (at that point you have useable channels, but they have no guide data), use automap to switch the channels to using Schedules Direct, then 'Update EPG' to pull in the guide data.

If you'd been elsewhere in the world, you could have just just scanned the device for channels, then accepted it's offer to update the epg, then you're good to go.

Anyway, with the reinstall, for grins, I tried doing the "add sd channel lineup" right after logging into SD..and got the same error with no result.

I'm still trying to picture exactly what you're describing.

On the Settings->Guide page, do your Schedules Direct lineups listed at the top of the page? (might take a few seconds to appear when you first visit the page)

I'm guessing the he's still not understanding that the SD lineup selection isn't stored in the NextPVR settings but rather in the SD account. So I think that he keeps trying to add the same lineup to the SD account every time that he reinstalls NextPVR. And then he gets an error because the lineup is already associated with his SD account so it can't be added again.
