Hello,

I'm trying to play some avi files. Most of them work fine, however a few which I have the video plays really fast, and the audio gets left behind. They both start at the same time, but after a few seconds, the video is way ahead of the sound. And as it continues the video gets more and more ahead.

This isnt an issue with the MVP but rather with the transcoding. The MPEG which is generated itself has these issues when played on the computer.

Some avi files transcode fine, but some of them have this problem.

Is there anything I can do to fix this? What am I doing wrong?

Thanks a lot Smile

Either you could try different codecs (video as well as audio), a syncing app like Reclock, or to recompress the video. If you have ffdshow handling those, you could turn it off, or make sure you have no special filters running.

This is a problem like curing the common cold. A lot of people have it, and there's no one way to get rid of it.

Thanks for the reply.

I've tried turning on and off ffdshow to no avail Sad

Once thing I did notice, is the FPS on the videos (according to ffdshow) on the PC is about 10, and on the MVP aroumnd 60 - not sure if this is due to the transcoding and is normal though.

I've given ReClock a look, but I'm not sure how it works or how to use. Does it work in addition to ffdshow? Does it work instead of it?

Thanks a lot Smile

It works in place/front of. Default settings would be enough. If it doesn't help, or it hurts, just uninstall it. I would make sure ffdshow is not handling mpeg2 files, let the codec work, and let reclock go in front (which is a default).

If it is having to resync a lot (to the point it is just as annoying), then you need to look at the codec I think.
