To be clear though - the application has no way to know that you don't need the channel loaded. It's very common for a user to want to change the epg mapping to another channel on the same source, so it has to load that channel list.

Yeah. I guess I should have said "am not looking at" instead of "don't need".

That's actually exactly what I'm doing. I'm applying some Schedules Direct EPG to some channels that were lacking.

When the channel list is eventually successfully downloaded, it repopulates the dropdown with those channel options (and ignores the fact that you've since changed the source, and got the new channel list from elsewhere).

Does the second channel behave better? ie, the channel list should have been cached by then, and be quicker to retrieve.

The subsequent channels don't behave better. Actually, if I click on a different source then back to the slow-to-download source without making any changes, it loads ("...loading...") again.
ok, I’ll check this. I know SD channels get cached, maybe XMLTV ones are not. Usually when I’m using XMLTV, it’s for our broadcast channels, with 30ish channels, so nearly instant to load, and may not be something I’ve thought to look at.

Then go to the search/filter bar and type in "Sports" and only channels with the word sports in the name will show up. There is a check box there to select all. When clicked, it looks like it works. There are now checks next to all sports channels. But then as soon as you click any where or delete the text the changes revert and have not been saved. Meaning you actually have to individually click each checkbox.
I've just taken a look, and yeah it was behaving a bit strangely. I've made some changes and it's much improved for the next build.

Hi Sub,

I didn't want to start a new thread as this is probably the same issue.

I had a bunch of channels selected and I auto mapped them to a schedules direct EPG lineup.  But all of the channels were auto mapped including ones that weren't selected.  Anyway, if it were to only auto-map the selected channels that would be great.

Also, is there anyway to ask the auto-mapper (by channel name) to ignore characters or strings of characters at the beginning of a channel name?... For example all of my channels have a "CA: " at the beginning to show that they're Canadian channels ("CA: Sportsnet Ontario"). Could be a stretch. Thought I'd ask.

Thanks!

The automap applies to all channels of the type selected in the dropdown. It's not related to the selected channels.

I'll keep this in mind for adding some time in the future though. (or maybe add 'selected channels' to the channel type drop down)

Ahh. Okay.  So is the best way for me to go through each channel and designate the SD EPG?

There is not a lot of logic that can match when both channel number and channel names don't match. The best solution is manual so start by reducing the channel list to what you actually watch, and link that to one cable or satellite location to start. Having tv.zap2it.com open for the zipcode you are using will help map the names (you will see why software has a hard time matching)
