Do you get duplicate channels appearing in your capture source tab after running update EPG or simply e.g. 5 channels before 5 channels after but the numbers have changed

thank you, yes i tried, but it doesn't work.
i looked into the tvxb ini file, if i change the names of the stations, it would not download, if i leave them as is, it downloads, but with wrong channel stations.
if there was a way to "tell" GB_PVR to map channel x to station y it would help and solve it all.
any ideas?

Sorry not the ini file, but the output xml file. Have a look and see if the channels have <display-name> and whether it is simply a name, or name and another line with a number

In the ini file have you tried editing the "chid" part?

Lifted from the installation guide of tvxb (presume this is what you are using)

2.3.1 Setup TVxb.ini with your local channels
Once you have TVxb working for a single channel – CNN International – then edit TVxb.ini and
setup channel definitions for your country and cable provider.
Channel definitions are provided for several countries on the http://www.tvxb.com/ web-site. If you
can find your country and cable provider listed there, then copy the .ini file to your \TVxb\ini folder
and rename the file to TVxb.ini .
Edit the TVxb.ini file and customize:
• Number of channels: Remove channels you don’t watch to speed up downloads
• Channel ID: Change each channel id (for example: [svt1.se]) so that it matches the channel
information expected by your EPG software. Each channel ID must be unique.
• Channel name: Make sure there is a name= item specified for each channel.
You can specify multiple name= lines for each channel, containing for example, channel name,
channel number etc.

And from the sample

name name=CNN
name=23
Display name for the channel.
Multiple name= items can be specified for each
channel. For example: one for the name, one for
physical channel number etc.
(1.0046 feature)

And Where is the chid ? I think I must have been looking at something else at the time, sorry. check the output file and see if you have two display-name tags per channel, one with a number, one with text, might be the reason. The cause might be above

i have the same problem with birtle's radio times grabber.
i too, can only get my redeye remote to utilise the 'left tab' channels.
when i use the xml updater program, the xml recreates the xml file with the original channels (i looked into the xml).

i have PM'd him to se if he can help..if the xml could be created not to update the channel number , things might work properly...

cheers
