Pluto TV Recordings - SxxExx not in filename

The situation that I am having:

When using the XML method of EPG for a Pluto TV channel, the TV series SxxExx is not added to the recorded filename. 
When changing the method to SD for that channel, the SxxExx is added.

The problem with using SD for the Pluto TV channel is that it typically does not have the latest episode data for any but the next few hours. Recordings scheduled as "Record All New" or "Record All" do not get SxxExx for the later recordings until after the next NextPVR EPG update, when the first 3 or 4 episodes then get full/correct information.

Is there a way to make the XML EPG method add the SxxExx information, or reload the SD EPG data more frequently than 1 time per day?

NextPVR allows you to load the EPG as often as you want explained on the NextPVR wiki. Also as described in the wiki topic on the extra there is an command line option for pluto.py to update just the Pluto XMLTV so feel free to create your own script.

Regarding the SD issue, sub should be updating recurring recordings every update, so at recording time it should be ok. If it isn't that would be a different issue.

Note the Season/Episode information is not always accurate compared to a good data source like tmdb, imdb or tvdb so be warned.

BTW, I'd strongly recommend VOD over Live recording, using the current pluto file streamlink.

Thank you, Martin. It had been a while since I looked at the wiki. I didn't realize that multiple times could be specified for update, when did that change? Or have I just been missing that option for a long time? This should absolutely fix my problem.

The Pluto XMLTV is the method that doesn't populate season and episode information at all (for this show, haven't tested on others), which is why I switched just this channel to SD. The show isn't available by VOD, so I am having to record the old-fashioned way. I have been keeping up with the streamlink updates based on a recommendation that you made in another thread.

Multi update is not new. Your post confused me because you wrote SD when you meant XMLTV

Do you mind sharing the program name you can't find, I want to make sure it is not a bug?
