To be clear though, the order that works for you is called unsorted, and both NextPVR and Kodi are free to send and display them however they please.

thanks Both,
i checked debug logs between old and new images when chan groups load, it looks like there is more going on when i point the client to the older image Old : Load: 2185 channels added from clients to group 'All channels' 2022-01-10 13:04:02.429 T:5495 DEBUG <general>: DatabaseUtils::GetSortFieldList: unknown field 36 2022-01-10 13:04:02.437 T:5495 DEBUG <general>: connect replacing configured host 192.168.0.10 with resolved host 192.168.0.10 2022-01-10 13:04:02.439 T:5520 DEBUG <general>: CurlFile::Open(0xda1ecb70) http://192.168.0.15:8866/service?method=...c3fe310c95 2022-01-10 13:04:02.448 T:5520 DEBUG <general>: AddOnLog: pvr.nextpvr: DoMethodRequest channel.groups 0 5911 9 2022-01-10 13:04:02.452 T:5520 DEBUG <general>: LoadUserDefinedChannelGroups: 57 new user defined TV channel groups fetched from clients 2022-01-10 13:04:02.452 T:5520 DEBUG <general>: Load: 0 channels loaded from the database for group 'United Kingdom' New 2022-01-10 13:08:22.938 T:5932 DEBUG <general>: Load: 2174 channels added from clients to group 'All channels' 2022-01-10 13:08:22.939 T:5909 DEBUG <general>: connect replacing configured host 192.168.0.10 with resolved host 192.168.0.10 2022-01-10 13:08:22.958 T:5932 DEBUG <general>: LoadUserDefinedChannelGroups: 57 new user defined TV channel groups fetched from clients 2022-01-10 13:08:22.959 T:5932 DEBUG <general>: Load: 0 channels loaded from the database for group 'AFL Australian Football League' the two lines above LoadUserDefinedChannelGroups when pointing at the old image, always appear at the point but never appear when pointing at the new image Any how... i found i still had a macrium backup on my PC from before i upgraded so have been able to roll back and have kodi show groups in the order i set in my M3u again.

Absolutely there was a change in Kodi when I added the ability to allow radio groups as there was no longer a need to go back to NextPVR to get the channel groups, since the NextPVR API itself doesn't allow this distinction. Kodi, more correctly pvr.nextpvr now uses an internal cache, which is still sent to Kodi core with equal priority on all groups. This is why I said I could make a change if sub sent the priority, but I actually support his decision not to do this.
I really don't see the harm in you renaming your groups as both sub and suggested but if you are happy with old version that is fine too. Martin

Thanks Martin,
i am happy sticking with the older version and keeping the naming of the groups i have now as everything works. i guess if there is a compelling reason to update, like some new feature i want or my streams change and need a new version to work i will look at prefixing the groups with a number so they sort in the way i want, but at the moment the latest Kodi stable release is quite happy to sort the groups according to my M3u, and in the same order they show in NVPR web gui, as long as i point to an older version of NPVR back end. i also noted that in latest NPVR, in the web gui the config setting is respected and groups are not listed alphabetically and list in the order is set them, but this does not get reflected in Kodi.

There are always changes. The most important changes were in recordings, first recordings not showing up in the recording list if the status changes while playing another recording and second working around Kodi incorrectly marking in-progress as watched. Since your concern is groups it appears Live TV is more important then recording playback to you so you should be ok.

I wish I could go back to version 4 which worked great. Version 5 freezes on playback if you skip at all, Skips recordings, many times you cannot set up recurring recordings and if you do, it does not actually record them. Have been using Kodi for playback, but I do like closed captions and Kodi only sometimes shows them.

V5 has been out for around 2 years now, and is very stable. If you are having problems with v5, then you should create a new post, reproduce and describe your problem, and attach a full .zipped set of logs created in the web app from the settings screen. (And, if kodi is involved, also include a debug log from kodi.

I'm happy to take a look at the issue if you can reproduce it and post the logs. |
