Are the settings for Skip forward and back set only by the client app?
I'm using the NextPVR client on Kodi (on a raspberrypi and windows 10). The skip settings are 10, 30, 1min etc.
Is there a way to fine tune these? I'd like to be able to set the forward skip to a number between 10 and 30 seconds and I'm not sure where I can make that adjustment.

I like to use DVRs/PVRs to shorten the time it takes to watch a football game. In addition to skipping commercials and halftime, I skip the dead time between plays. As soon as a play ends, I hit skip and they're all getting lined up for the next play. A 30 second skip is usually fine but some teams use a hurry-up offence and they're lined up and ready to go in 10 to 15 seconds. A 30 second skip is too much for those situations. In WMC, there was a registry setting for the skip length. I'm looking for something like that for NextPVR.

Also, in my setup, there are brief audio dropouts after a skip. The audio is fine for about 2 seconds after a skip but then drops out for about 250ms before coming back. It's just an inconvenience. I can live with it. It's not like a loud click or pop or some other annoying thing but it would be nice to get rid of it. Maybe it's just my setup.

Skipping settings for kodi are in kodi somewhere.

playback issues in kodi are probably kodi at fault. Could possible be reception issues too though. Try doing a recording, and try playing it in a few players to see if they all have the issues (ie problem is in the files)

Client side here https://kodi.wiki/view/Skip_steps You'd need to be using test builds of LE to get h/w deinterlacing working but honestly a 10 second skip if it needs to reload a buffer from the server will probably not be that exact so you might have to live with 250ms. Those quick skips can cause problems too as Dallas found out last night.

You're right. I tested a file with VLC and the skip works fine without dropouts. It could be the Kodi player but maybe just in the RaspberryPi configuration. I'll test it later on one of my PCs with Kodi to see if there are audio dropouts.

Is there a media player you'd recommend for NextPVR that I can use with a RaspberryPi?

Thanks. I was watching.

Thanks for the link. I can see where I can change the skip settings in Kodi's advancedsettings.xml. I'll just have to find that file on the RaspberryPi.

I tested 10 second skips with VLC on the same PC running NextPVR (with the recording hard drive inside the PC). No dropouts.
The audio dropouts happen in Kodi with 30 second and 1 min skips too but it's not a big deal when skipping commercials. Skipping to the next play in a football game happens several times in a short time frame. A play take maybe 10 sec, skip 30 seconds to the next play, that may take 15 seconds, then skip, etc. It would be nice to have solid audio but it's not that big a deal. I'll post about it in a Kodi forum.

It just Kodi, a better test would be to install Kodi on the same PC and see if that works. Of course you need to test the same version of Kodi that you used on the RPi.

However RPi problems are typically not Kodi either since most people use LibreElec and the LE forums are full of this type of issue.

I'm using LibreElec so I'm in good company.

Turn's out the audio dropouts after a skip only happen with the RPi Kodi set up (LibreElec). I'll checkout those forums.

Using your link, I setup an advancedsettings.xml file for my pc version of Kodi and was able to set up custom skip durations. There are no audio dropouts at any skip setting (tried 10 sec, 20 sec, 30 sec and 30 min).
