I updated to the latest 6.1.4 version and it's running fine.
One thing I noticed is that instead of a 10 second skip in the video when I use the right arrow key, it now brings up a small video strip which highllights different times within the video in 10 second intervals.
Is it possible to use the old function of just skipping the video forward 10 seconds?
How can I program this?
Thanks.

I suggest you give this a little more time since it does take a bit of getting used to. Once you are sure, thumbnail generation can be disabled via the Settings->General screen. One other change in 6.1.4 was the creation of a timing file which does allow more accurate skipping in NextPVR.exe and nlite. After you disable thumbnails you may want to use config.xml to enable timing.

For files that already have the thumbnail file, you can delete the file from Windows explorer and the old behaviour will happen.

You can press left/right to quickly scroll through the thumbnails, and press enter to jump to the selected spot. This method makes it super easy to see where adverts etc are.

As Martin mentioned, you can disable thumbnails in Settings if you don't want it.

"disabled via the Settings->General"

I don't see any setting related to this for disabling/unchecking.

It's a dropdown under "Generate Thumbnails" not a checkbox. Set to None.
