Is VLC doing deinterlacing? That is the only thing I think might be different with libmpv in yauiclient (you can turn it off with the n key)

If you can supply a sample recording, I'll check it out here later today.

Hi,
Here's the link to a sample file:
https://1drv.ms/f/s!Ai9q_te1HnG0hPw10_cv...Q?e=lDDo8Y
This morning I accessed this file via the webb app and it played fine so it's just the Windows client that seems to have the issue.

Martin, I tried the "n" key and it made no difference.

Edit : PS - I just copied this file onto the SSD and put it back in the old machine where it played without a problem.

Is there any time in the file that is worse than others for you it plays back as expected here. Testing from the web player is kiely waste of time since it is transcoded to another file on the fly.

Also did you ever try and address the 4K@30 issue that I alluded to for the dropped frames? For example did you try setting your monitor 1080@60 or higher? If that works is you monitor capable of better resolution since 30Hz is not ideal for general video or text. If it is capable of 60Hz maybe you aren't using and HDMI 2 compatible cable, you can't get 60Hz with 1.4.

Hi Martin,
The problem appears as soon as I play the file then after a minute or two, the audio and video seem to get in sync.
I am using a Samsung TV at 3840x2160 and it was at 30Hz which I changed to 60Hz and it made no difference.
I was using the HDMI cable that came with the PC so I switched that to the one from the old PC and the issue persists.

Another thing I just noticed is that the OSD flashes across the bottom of the screen very briefly (less than a second) several times. Not sure if that is relevant.

Your finding with the SSD plus the fact the yauiclient has the same issue makes me think you are looking in the wrong direction. It plays in sync on my 32" Samsung at 4K@60 and sub will likely find the same thing. Can you send the sound to another device?

Hi Martin,
I connected a small speaker via cable to the audio jack and got the same result. Having watched the same file mutiple times now, the way it displays and sounds is totally consistent in that I can recognise specific points where the video is doing one thing and the sound another (hope that makes sense) and the point where audio and video sync is always the same.
Now for the weird bit, I just tried YAUI client again with several files and they play without issues.....

Edit : I just realised that I didn't check YAUI after I had switched the display to 60Hz so this might explain why YAUI is now OK. The dropped frames figure is now very low, only 20 (output) after a few minutes.

Well, after much experimentation I have found that the problem is the OSD (I did mention earlier that it flashed across the screen). Within a second of taking the OSD off the screen, the audio and video sync perfectly.

There are changes in how the OSD is presented in NextPVR.exe in the next version which could help. I thought it might be that earlier but you said removing the SSD fixed the problem too so that didn't seem linked to the Intel bug sub is working around.
