I am running yauiclient v3 in linux mint 22.3 and it works well except that every several days it crashes with gigabytes in the log file.  I started it a few days ago and noticed that something was looking for or trying to write yauiclient.conf in my .yauiclient directory. This is a greatly trimmed log file with what I think has the details.  I cleared out the log files, started yauiclient, and waited for the crash.  Can you tell me what is causing this and what I need to do to correct it?

From this

2026-09-11 01:51:12.039 T:02116 [DEBUG] Control thread: heartbeat failed (HTTP 0, error: 'Operation timed out after 5002 milliseconds with 0 bytes received') — exiting gracefully [MediaControl CB]

it looks like the NextPVR server didn't respond perhaps it was busy so it is a normal exit, the server logs would help. Actually y3 is supposed to exit after a period of inactivity, it shouldn't really run for days.

I am more concerned about this.

2026-09-09 09:24:02.807 T:02115 [CLAUDE] [mpv/file] [error] Cannot open file '/home/george/.yauiclient/yauiclient.conf': No such file or directory [LibmpvPlayer-Event]

Does that file truly not exist?

Martin,
Thanks for your reply. Forgive the questions. We have been using nextpvr on windows for years, but recently switched to linux. Kodi works as a client but is much more complicated to setup and more than we need (the wife gets confused). I was very happy to see yauiclient. I didn't realize that it should exit after a period of inactivity. Is there a setting where this controlled?

The file yauiclient.conf does not exist as it stands now. I wonder why LibmpvPlayer wouldn't have privilege to write there. Is there another group that I need to be a member of to run yauiclient?

I'll wade through the npvr logs back at the time this was happening later this evening and send some excerpts if that would help.
