I'm not sure if this is the same problem as the above issues but today i set gbpvr to record last season of the 4400 tv show. The usa network is running them all back to back this afternoon. I set up a season record for the show so i'd get them all, plus the new series as it plays over time.

What happened was it's recording it all into a single file, instead of breaking up into the respective epsodes. I didn't use any padding either before or after as that always seems to miss some of the start of some programs. Maybe that was not the correct way to set up.

I'm guessing that since the recording is all to be the same show, with the same name that it just didn't stop. Not positive on this as it's still recording as i write this.

Anyone know of a way to split the mega file back into it's respective epsodes again?

Hi

Sorry for the delay in replying, was out for a while.

Not all the time, it seems to be a little up in the air as to when/how it does it.

I've come home to GPF's from the application - with what I can see here, I suspect it's because something has tried to start another recording while the previous one which should has shut down has not.

Any tests I can run that can help track this down, please let me know.

Thanks. I've queued up a few test recordings for overnight, will see how that goes.

edit: nightwalker - any of these guides can help you split your MPG file:

thanks for the links, i'll keep them on hand.

As it turned out, i didn't get one large file. what happened was one recorded, then the next over wrote it, and next over wrote that last and so forth the entire day. it's the only time i've had a problem recording anything. I was just wondering if it was maybe just a glitch in the system today or because i was recording episodes back to back for the day, not your usual event but it was a great oppertunity to catch up on the ones i missed last year.

For now i'm going to re boot everything and hope it was just a hiccup in the system today.

oh well, there's always next year Smile

OK, this is weird.

I set it up to record programmes at 01:00, 01:30, 01:55, 03:00 and 05:45.

The one at 01:00 worked, but the one at 01:30 didn't even start, making an empty file with zero bytes, and the rest of the recordings didn't start as a result. I came down to find an event log entry saying:

Faulting application gbpvrrecordingservice.exe, version 1.0.1970.26188, faulting module MpgMux.ax, version 5.0.0.727, fault address 0x00018fcc.

Interesting. I think I will try and locate a different multiplexer as a starting point...

Yep, that'd do it.

Yes, thats the best thing to do. Probably either the ShowShifter one, or there is also a later CyberLink one but it can be difficult to find.

OK, I installed ShowShifter.

I can now see that the GBPVRRecordingService.exe has loaded SS's MpegWriter.ax and also c:\windows\system32\mpeg2data.ax.

Let's see how this pans out Smile

All recordings worked fine this morning. Found a problem with LiveTV, but that must have been somehow on a non-existant channel. When I picked one from the guide worked, but now I'm getting a lot of corruption in the video.

Obviously a codec issue, so I'll keep playing around. Noticed an icon appear in the system tray when I went for the live TV, an nVidia think (nStant properties) which appears to have came with ShowShifter....

Will post my findings in case anyone else comes up with the same problem.
