Anyone have any experience with a good, cheap USB based TV tuner?

Camping season's approaching, and our old portable AC/DC 9" TV is on it's last leg. We've been debating getting another, and I was thinking since I tend to always have my laptop with us, why not just pick up a tuner for it.

I don't care about capture etc, just something to tune NTSC TV and play it on the laptop via USB. I guess PCMCI is an option as well, but I doubt there's much there.

I used an old Hauppauge WinTV-USB before I invested in my full-blown GBPVR machine. I'd inherited it from a friend who didn't use it after he upgraded to XP, but I think they only run about US$75. The video quality was good, and once I had a decent CPU (~1GHz), i thought the performance was pretty good. And the option is still open to do software capture if you change your mind about that. A few interesting (maybe Smile ) links:

A really small USB tuner: http://www.trustedreviews.com/article.aspx?art=1509

Both digital and analog (alone or at in the same device), pcmcia, usb and mini-pci (which'll only work if the laptop is made specificaly for it, but still a pretty cool solution Smile ), check their other pages : http://www.lifeview.com.tw/html/products...ardbus.htm

I have an old Hauppauge USB tuner that I don't use any more. I'll sell it to you cheap if you're interested. It's the old one...not USB2. I used it with my old HP laptop (1.2G Celeron) and it worked fine. I think they still have the software for it on their download site. Say $25 shipped (USA)? Email me if you're interested.
