Is it possible for USB UIRT to recieve a signal for like volume up from my hauppauge 45 button remote and then transmit the volume up signal for my tv and so on and so forth so like I could basically use it to make my remote control work similar to a programmable remote?

If not is there any chance we could get this kind of control in a later release of gbpvr??

No. GB-PVR channel changer interface was designed for the fairly simple 0 - 9 + enter configuration. You should be able do all sorts of special features like this using the Girder software.

yeah thats what i hear, but i was checking if there was any kind of freeware software that could do it instead. If there's not I guess ill just have to get girder.

I thought that was the point of the UIRT: teach it your remotes, and then assign a remote to use, and have it send signals to the other IR receivers.

I was looking at it as a possible solution to the remote pile I'm getting. Teaching it my Haup, TV, and Sony HTR remotes, use the Haup remote, w/ only two buttons performing other function: the green button would set the TV power signal, and the vol would send the receiver vol +/-.

I thought using girder was to have it do things that the huap does, and send key commands, etc, to the system.

That's what I thought, but admittedly don't know.

No, its not. Thats a function of the application, not the USB-UIRT. The USB-UIRT can learn an IR signal, and can play back an IR signal.

In my application, I wrote code to learn and playback 0 thru 9 and the enter. I dont send other combinations of keystrokes. Its not to say I couldn't, just that I wanted to stick to core function I needed for changing channels.

To do other stuff with the USB-UIRT, you need an application which provides the functions you need. Girder is quite customizeable. Other apps may also exist that let you do this extra stuff. Either way, the USB-UIRT is still just providing the ability to learn an IR signal, and to playback an IR signal.

I think I get it. I was looking at UIRT because I thought it could control other appliances w/ an IR receiver. If I couldn't use it to teach it my TV remote, and then tell it the singal from the green button the the haup remote = tv power, then it isn't any use to me at all. It sounds more like every other remote device like firefly.

You could do that, but you'd have to use something like Girder.

Ahhhh...I think I get it. UIRT doesn't come w/ an app to config the blasting signals, so girder does. Cool...that clears up a lot. If the s/pdif audio card doesn't give me vol control, I'll get the uirt.
