I made a post about this issue a few months ago when it first came up. Since then I've been able to do a few more tests. I've found that when I start watching a recording that is in progress, but do not finish it, the recording either stops or becomes corrupted. I thought it just involved recordings over 90 minutes, but I had it happen on a 30 min. sit-com. What happens is I schedule and start recording a show, and then about 15 minutes into the show I decide to start watching it. Something comes up and I don't finish watching the show (because I figure I can finish watching it later). When I go back to finish watching the show later I find that the end never recorded.

I'm watching the shows using the MVP. I was wondering if hitting the "Stop" button on the MVP remote was stopping the recording? The PC I'm using is an old P3, but it doesn't seem to have any problems with memory or speed.

No, I've not heard of this one before. I cant see how this would happen. Does it just happen sometimes, or every time you do this?

You could take a look in the logs and see if there are any errors listed.

I was just looking at the logs (gbpvr.exe.log, etc), but I didn't see any errors from the date of the recordings. One thing I just noticed...I just took a look at 2 different recordings I made within the past week that experienced this problem. One movie lasted 3 hours and the second one was on for 2.5 hours. Both recordings ended after recording for 1 hr. 35 min. and 49 sec. I had 5 min. padding on the beginning and end of each recording. Both recording files are within 30 kb's of each other in size, so I would think that means that they both stopped recording at 1:35:49 (consequently I recorded these 2 shows a few days apart and they were the only things I was recording at the time). I could send you my log files if that would help. Thanks for checking this out!

If it stops mid recording, it usually means you are sharing the IRQ of the capture device with another device in your machine. You'll probably find you cant reliably do long recordings in WinTV2000 either.

I'm afraid I don't understand what that means. I've seen the term "IRQ", but I don't know what to do. I am using PVR150MCE cards with the 150 drivers (not the MCE drivers). Since I got the MCE cards I never got WinTV.

Ok, I did a little research. I found that there are 2 devices in Device Manager (I'm using Win XP Pro) that have the same IRQ as my 2 PVR cards. Any advice on changing them (i.e. what to change them to) would be greatly appreciated. The "Change Settings" button in Device Manager is greyed out, so I guess I need to do a little more research to find out what to do to change the IRQ. The 2 devices that have the same IRQ as my capture cards are: Intel® 82801A SMBus Controller and Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System.

Its not really very easy to change. You could try moving the capture device to another PCI slot.

I've only got 1 open slot left, and I had hoped to eventually put another capture card in it too. If the IRQ sharing is the issue, I found a good article about it on the MSDN site: http://support.microsoft.com/default.asp...-us;314068 It doesn't look like it is recommended to manually set IRQ in Windows XP. Maybe I need to get a newer box. This was an old Win98 box I upgraded to XP Pro.

I'm going to try a test with doing a long recording, and not watching it until it is done to see if that is the answer. It seems like I've done that in the past and it was okay. I guess I just want to see how bad the issue is for now.

I found out that my file system was formated in FAT32. In FAT32 there is a 4GB file size limit. I converted it to NTFS using the command line tool in Windows XP and all is well. I made a similar post on shspvr.com and with sub (I assume its the same sub who made GBPVR) and another poster's help I was able to fix this. Here's the link to the post on shspvr:

Many thanks, Sub!
