Howdy Guys,
Long time since I have posted but things have been working pretty smooth. Well until I got all ambitious and bought a capture card. Smile I had been using the MVP And GBPVR to just watch movies, and listen to music, etc. I hadn't really jacked with the TV and recording stuff since I already had a PVR that came with my Dish Network.

I bought a Hauppauge PVR-150, got it all configured, and setup recording, etc. I can watch Live TV and record what I am watching so far without a problem. I actually recorded 4 hours straight on 1 program with no problem while in live TV mode. Smile

The problem comes in with scheduled recordings. I am trying to record the Sesame Street every morning for my daughter to watch that night since she misses it since we are driving to school. Recording will kick off and I can get from 2 minutes to 45 minutes before it locks up the whole system. I get home from work and I have to hit the reset button since the mouse, keyboard, and it isn't responding at all via network.

I knew there was a problem recording to the VIA IDE chipset that occurs with lots of similar applications so I bought a Promise IDE expansion card and moved my recording drive to it. I have also played the buffer, and Pagefile for the system on that IDE channel as well. I have googled, and searched here and not been able to find a solution. I have found you guys extremely knowledgeable and helpful, and I am hoping you can come through for me again. Smile

I have pasted in what I can find in the logs around that time frame. Please let me know if I am missing something else from another log. Thanks so much for your time and help, have a great day and take care. Smile p.s. I love my GBPVR

Everything looks ok in the GB-PVR logs. You shutdown seemed to happen unexpectidly about two minutes after the recording started.

Since it caused a your machine to restart (which is a pretty nasty reaction), I can only guess it was driver related. Possibly capture device drivers. Possibly the IDE drivers.

Does the event log give you any more to go on?

Here is the only possible thing I have dug up.

I have followed tipstir and other googling's advice and instructions on how to change the pagefile.sys to the other drive, yet no matter what I do..... It still shows up on c:.

wtf^mate? Smile

The driver disabled the write cache on device \Device\Harddisk6\DR6.

I found some newer drivers for my IDE channels. So I have installed them and I plan on trying those out in soon. Any idea's on the page file thing?

I've never bothered to fiddle with page file settings. I know some people swear by it, but the defaults have always worked well for me.
