I notice it in Live TV the most but also in playback. I hear a crackling. The audio i use is just the standard one that is with the computer (built-in not an add-on card). Now I know it could be a million issues like:

* It could be software
* It could be hardware
* it could be the amp attached to my computer
* It could be wiring

However, I thought i'd ask if anyone has experienced it and might know what i'm talking about and perhaps narrow what the issue might be
If you want to know why nPVR is the bomb, ask my wife!

The last 3 points will be aparent with it just sitting there and not doing anything. The 1st point will be aparent if you are playing something. Which is it?

1) Try closing as many things you have open as possible. If it stops, something you closed is it. It can also be the audio rendering app (even onboards have them, like the ac97 interface), or a setting there.
2) You could have a conflict, a bios setting, or maybe the audio to loud/amped/on (meaning audio ports like line in or midi that should be turned off in some situations). You could try taking out extra HW devices that you don't need to run (modem, nic card temprorarily) if you want to be thorough.
3&4) Could be doing to much (too loud for soft system), you could have bad wires, etc. Try turning off speakers and see if it stops, and chaning the main line in cable.

The safest place to start is Googling the audio device & handler app, and words like "crackle", "static", and "pop".

W/ no info about your setup, my best advice would be to start w/ the search above, then proceed to do a process of elimination to see what makes it stop. Creative devices have a notorious list of common conflicts (my fav were always SB & via chipsets), and you may find your sound chip/driver has the same.

Btw, if it's just live TV, that's a better start. See if you have it wacting regular tv (see if it's the cable/sat feed), and if it shows up in recordings. If you had system sound problems, it wouldn't just be while wacthing live TV. You would have listing to MP3s, etc.
