Hmm

I now have GBPVR running with an MVP over a Wireless Lan (WDS Bridging). The Mainconcept (Hauppage ) MPEG Decoders work best (smoothest) or me.

I get the feed downstairs OK on the TV for about 2 mins then I (keep getting) an error related to GBVRRecordingService.exe and HTMpgMux.ax

(See attached error jpg)

It happens when I have the Recording service running (but not GBPVR on the PC).

Searched the forum/internet but no joy. Anyone had a similar prob or any ideas on this one?

k.

Edit: This post/thread refers to a Lifeview TV Walker mini or TVWalker mini in case anyone else is searching for help.

Update:

What I said/did below was wrong:

a. The Lifeview TVR installs HTMPgMux.ax. Sub tested v2.27 but this is the same as v 2.28 and 2.29.4. I checked the version no. and file size.
b. According to sub, the TV Walker (and other GO7007SB devices) needs that mux to function for recording OR alternatively, The Plextor 402 GO7007SB device can use one from WinDVD CREATOR. (NOT winDVD, NOT WINDVR, NOT POWERDVD)*. Sub confirms the TV Walker however does NOT use the WinDVD Creator ivimux.ax. It appears to ONLY work with HTMpgMux .ax (but gives me an error message).
c. I re-installed (re-registered) th eHTMpgMux. I get LiveTV on the TV, via the MPV, but only for a minute until the above error re-occurs. This is repeatable, but appears no solution is availble at present. I tried to install WinDVD Creator but its mux does NOT work for the TV Walker. This error has not occured with subs device or other TVWalker users, so may simply be some conflict s/w or h/w issues in my machine.
d. The following threads are examples advising use of " WinDVD Creator ", NOT WinDVD for (NOR WinDVR) for MUXING of the Video from GO7007SB devices OTHER than the Walker. This post is essentially just to put this setup info in one place for the Lifeview TVWalker Mini, (or even the Plextor PX-TV402U, which is equally applicable, but has many more posts than the TVWalker).

For the InterVideo Mux go to http://www.intervideo.com/jsp/Home.jsp and then browse to the create menu and download WinDVD Creator (the trial version). Even after the trial has run out you can still use the mux files.

* NOTE! You may need WinDVD for an MPEG2 decoder, but the WIKI gives other alternatives too. See http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Config/Playback

Cheers,

k.

"The problem is now fixed and the error gone. This might seem simple stuff to the code fiends out there, but some of us have to learn (and quickly) about things like unregistering filters etc :-)

When someone says "just unregister the filter" (or uninstall it) and you can't find the program that "may have" installed it in Add-Remove Programs if you're an HTPC newbie like me you may be stumped. So I thought I'd write down what I did:

1. I searched for, found (in WINNT/SYSTEM32) and had a look for who the HTMpgMux.ax belonged to (i.e. was written by) (right click properties on the file). It is some outfit called "Honest Technology", possibly Korean. I have no idea which software installed it. I don't as a rule install Codec Packs.

2. I unregistered the filter by choosing start run and typing

regsvr32 /u HTMPgMux.ax See also http://www.free-codecs.com/guides/How_to..._files.htm

If you're uncomfortable typing the above line try http://www.free-codecs.com/download/RegShell.htm

3. I looked for OTHER filters (from Honest Technology) using unregistered them as per step 1, AND deleted them using DirectShow Filter Manager from http://www.softella.com (Simple to use)

So far my system hasn't said "hey I need those" but CARE deleting anything, as always.

There are a bunch of Directshow and other Filter Managers out there, some other examples, in order of complexity.

a. Filmerit http://paul.glagla.free.fr/index_en.htm
b. Sherlock http://www.updatexp.com (Good, finds broken Filters, but can't delete).
c. Radlights Filter Manager. http://www.radlight.org/products/filter_.../index.php

(a) is my personal choice.

I recommend folks taking sub's (good and oft-repeated) advice and

(a) ONLY installing codecs/filters you really need
(b) Uninstalling or at least Unregistering the rest.

Cheers,

k.

Update: This has been FIXED (thank you Sub) from v94.8, who added support for another Mux for the Walker, from Intervideo.
