BDAScanType 2 - MCE2005?

I run a dual-boot Windows XP Pro SP2 and MCE2005 setup, using a Hauppauge Nova-t PCI (Chelsea) and HVR-1300 (Oxford). Under XP Pro, I could scan channels fine, but under MCE2005 it was nescessary to set BDAScanType to 2.

Was this option put in for MCE2005 or is it something else that caused it?

I'm not exactly sure why this is sometimes required. In theory both scan types should work all the time, but it seems that often DVB-T users in the UK need to use BDAScanType 2. This scan type uses a mechanism which uses Microsoft components for parsing the channel/service info out of the transports stream. Type '1' uses my own transport stream SI parser, which mustn't like something contained in UK SI info.
