I cannot register for the forums for some reason so this may not get through...

Anyway, I have a pace DITV - 1000 ntl digital cable box. I've also got a USBIRT and a hauppage remote. I can use the remote to navigate GBPVR ok, however channel changing doesnt work. I've configured the device as a pace ntl device in the capture device settings (USBIRT plugin) and as a hauppage remote in the misc settings. Changing channel causes the usbirt to light up, but the receive light on the STB doesn't light up. I'm thinking I've got one of these old irda like pace boxes? So I need to buy the redremote.co.uk thingy?

Also, latest version, live tv is showing up in a window rather than fullscreen... any thoughts on that?

thanks

I have a Pace 2000 box, and it uses the irDa signals. I believe the 1000 is the same.

I use a redeye in front of my box. This allows me to change channel with my USB-UIRT (and your existing ntl remote will still work even though it has the redeye in front of it)

It's a solid little product, and seems to work well for everyone.

For a PACE 1000/2000 or a 4000 used on NTL's ex CW service you need a red eye serial to control the STB. The Red Eye can be switched to control the 4001/4010 or Samsung box so when NTL get round to upgrading all the boxes to Samsung your investment won't be wasted

Redeye Serial

I use the red eye serial via Girder to switch channels from GBPVR as I already use Girder for other tasks on my PC but I believe there is a dos program on the above website that can be used directly from GBPVR to control the STB

Do you have an Email I can post some C# code to you sub?

I can confirm that the Redeye Serial works perfectly for ex CW NTL boxes with this command line program...

Does this redeye program work with the simple transmitters or does it require extra hardware (i.e. is the redeye more than a simple device?)

Winlirk lets you use simple transmitters (1 IR LED, 1 2.2k resistor & 1 diode, connected in series from either TX or DTR to GRND on you com port)  I have one of these & it works fine with Winlirc + paces 4001.

The Redeye Serial is just what you describe - the Redeye program just provides the interface between the command line and the COM port for us hardware engineers who can't write software ourselves [Image: smile.gif]

You just execute the program with a series of characters as arguments and it sends it out of the COM port to the LED as ASCII with all of the baud rate, delays between characters etc taken care of.

Hope that makes sense!

KR1S, The program don't do it for my interface. I use TX for signal. Is DTR used for the redeye signal instead of TX?

Cheers - Steve.

Sorry, I'm a tw*t - I should've checked more carefully before posting - the Redeye Serial is not as simple as I thought - it appears it does have a micro to translate the serial data from the COM port into the correct IR protocol.

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/electri....pec.pdf

Even so, I'd have thought if you can find the detials of the protocol you should be able to write something to bit bash your port and use your hardware.

Apologies again

Chris
