I get the feeling I'm missing something important

Thanks everyone for the help. I found the mediamvp at Circuit City for $55 and I got my system up and running. Only thing is that the menu appears blurry on my Samsung HDTV TV, they've improved a bit more by changing to a different skin. But so far it seems to work. I guess I just need to work out the kinks and tweak it a little.

Hi Adam,

Right, lets take this a step at a time.

GBPVR will send the Video Stream through the MPV automatically provided TWO things are present (apart from the obvious one of an MVP device itself) and ONE thing is configured in the GBPVR Config:

1. A DHCP Server is on your PC.
2. GBPVR Recording Service is running
3. In Config you told GBPVR to "Autostart an (1) MPV Server".

Could you explain what you have in your HTPC setup at the moment?
Is GBPVR working OK on your PC?
Presumably you have bought an MVP, already connected it to the TV and have installed and tested the Hauppauge MPV software just to see if all is OK?

Thanks so much for the help.

I've got a pvr 150 in my pc and a media mvp connected via a mitsumi wavit11. everything is now working fine except the gb pvr display on the tv is cutting off the top. other than that all is working perfectly.

i think i'm going to get a second mvp for the family room!

you can edit the size and offset in the config.xml (MVPHeight, MVPWidth, MVPOffsetX, MVPOffsetY) for every single MVP you have (identified by its MAC address).
if you don't want to 'mess' with the config-file by yourself, you can try the MVPScreenPosition-Plugin which offers you a more comfortable way.
