On a fresh install of XP-Pro SP2 and all updates. Using T-550 Pro with latest drivers, Quartz .dll patch, GBPVR, ATI MMC 9.01 (cc works fine). I was able to record using GBPVR tho none of the media players will play video. They all come up with missing Codec. When I boot to previous hdd the video saved plays normally. Many players, PVRs and codecs were attempted trying to get acceptable results from the Theater 550 untill settleing on above config (of course replacing ATA-133hdd with 10k SCSI 160 doesn't hurt Big Grin ) hence the need for clean reinstall.

Previous Codecs installed:
ATIYUV12.DLL
Divx ;-) mpeg-4 video -fast \ These 2 not in new config
Divx ;-) mpeg-4 video -slow / Divx 4.2 instead, can't find others
Divx 5.0 codec
iccvic.dll
Indeo video 5.1
ir32_32.dll
ir41_32.dll
iyuv_32.dll
iyvu9_32.dll
msh261.drv
msh263.drv
msrle32.dll
msvidc32.dll
msyuv.dll (2 of em)
XVID mpeg-4 video codec
All codecs appear the same except those mentioned above.

Any ideas how or why I would be missing codecs?
(never installed Cyberlinks soft on new hdd. Pertinent???)

Sounds like you dont have an MPEG2 decoder installed.

Hmmm, thanks for reminding me.
I thought originally it had to be mpeg-2. Mpeg-2 doesn't show up on either codec list, tho I've run a little program called mpeg2codec_installer I found somewhere. Any other sources for it Sub? As an afterthought I haven't run dvd software and burner software yet.

Most people get their MPEG2 decoder by either installing the software that came with their capture card (but I dont think MMC 9.01 was MPEG2 based), or installing DVD player software like WinDVD or PowerDVD.
