Hi,

It seems XP SP2 can't find a driver for the MCE 2005 remote. I tried the microsoft driver download but it seems when you try to install it (run the executable) it is expecting you to have the media centre o/s:mad: (got it from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai...layLang=en)

Can anyone confirm where to get an XP SP2 compatible driver from?

Tks

I didnt need any drivers for my MCE2004 remote, but this page may help you: http://www.sage-community.org/index.cgi/wiki/MceRemote. I saw a reference to this on byopvr.com a couple of months back.

Finally found a link where someone had posted the drivers. Now up and runnings (and basics are working, but still to run through a complete test).

My findings for others:
- The drivers for the 2005 MCE remote are not provided as part of XP HOME (apparently they are with XP profession and the MCE software)
- Downloading the executable driver installation from Microsoft didn't work as it expects your running Media Centre
- Finalling found someone who had posted the files from their MCE installation at:

I tried all sorts of drivers downloaded from various forums etc. and had nothing but trouble.

I had avioded SP2 for so long because I adopted an "if it aint broke..." Or more correctly I had come to terms with the flaws of XP SP1 and didn't want to launch into a new set.

I even tried extracting just the HID drivers from SP2. No luck.

At the end of the day the only way I could get the 2005 XP MCE remote to work was with a full SP2 update.

Remote works well now - I am just waiting for New windows problems. Rolleyes
