The reason Sub said it will not be done and it can no be done on the XCard, PVR350, MVP is due to the way these devices stream video and display it. The MVP accepts one video stream and displays it full screen, the 350 is the same and the XCard may also. There is no control over the size and the placement of the video.
The only way to do this on these devices is:
For Live PIP - Take the first video stream, merge a second video stream for PIP and output one stream to send to the device.
For PIP with Guide - Take the guide or GUI screen and then resize and add the live stream in a box and output the whole image into an MPEG stream that can be sent to the device.
Other PVR software can claim PIP or small video during the guide because they are controlling everything within the PC. They are not trying to keep the feature set the same while talk to multiple devices like GB-PVR.
SageTV has a MVP interface that has the same limitations.
Microsoft can do this by using a modified terminal services and thin client Windows on the Extender devices. (This is the reason for the high price)
Until a better device comes out that is easy to customize like the MVP and does not keep thier souce code closed like Hauppauge is doing we are stuck.
