External recorder & vlc & MyTheatre to watch scrambled channels

Hi,

I have a Twinhan DVB-S Sat-Ci card with a Conax CAM and a subscription card from Canal Digital.


I've experimented with the External recorder, and now it's possible to at least _record_ the scrambled channels from within GB-PVR. Horray!

First I configure MyTheatre, which supports my DVB-S card and CAM. It has builtin support for streaming(called Remote View). I set that up to stream to localhost, 127.0.0.1. Thus I can see the channles in VLC. I then use external recorder to start vlc and and dump the content of the stream to the file that GB-PVR wants.

External recorder settings:
Exe: C:\Program\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe
Recording parameters: udp:1234 out=#duplicate{dst=std{access=file,mux=ps,url="{filename}"}}
Preview parameters: udp:1234 -f


In order to change channel in MyTheatre, I use the ".exe Changer Plugin" set to send commands to MyTheatre like this:

Executable: C:\program\mytheatre\mtstart.exe
Parameters: /set /chnum {channel} /onlyfav


It will also work to watch live tv through vlc although the window is started from GBPVR, it not so easy to change channel(or wathc it in MVP). Have anyone got ideas how to get "live tv" to work in GBPVR with the external recorder?

You might want to turn off LiveTV's Preview Mode? That way when you load up LiveTV it will record to disk and you can watch it in GB-PVR.

Thanks, that works. Although a little slow.

I looked a little more at the source for Software Recorder. Impressive. Looks like I have to learn more about building Graphs like you do there, and eventually insert code to use the THPSiParser to get the PMT and activate the CA in the same way as int the Twinhan examples.

With a "little" hacking that would be possible, right? Or do you see an easier way of doing it?

Could be called "TwinhanCI Recorder".....

Anyway, I will now starting to use GBPVR a little more. Have been struiggling for a while to get it working and this seems like a good enough intermediary solution.
