epg - edit channel names ?

Is its possible to edit the channel names so that they appear sensibly in the epg ?

"BBC Radio 4" becomes "BBC Radio" etc

I've editted names in the database before.

TMF is always shown as TMF: The Music Factory

I couldn't add an image to the TV guide for this channel as windows doesn't like file names with ':' in them...

Its not save to edit the channel names in the database. This will cause GB-PVR to create new channels next time the EPG is updated.
