I have a Hauppage WinTV PVR 500 card. The quality of the video is not very good. It seems very picky about the signal from the TV cable. When i plug the TV cable into my TV, the picture looks good, but when it goes through the Hauppage card, it looks a bit snowy. Anyone know what's up??

What decoder are you using? Overlay, VMR7/9?
Have you tried the hauppauge tweak tool?

The tuner on the Hauppage cards (and all cards as a matter of fact) is not as good as the tuner inside your TV. I have noticed a similar problem on my system and other systems as well; NBC is crisp clear on the TV, yet it has horizontal bars when I am using Wintv.

Advice: Get a better antenna cable; a Monster cable with gold plated ends made all the difference.
Setup: AMD 1.4 GHz, 256 MB RAM, 128 MB Video Card, 200 GB HDD, PVR-150 MCE

My PVR-150MCE produces a better picture than my Samsung TV.
It sounds like you have a driver issue or a bad card.

Check your cables and consider adding an amplifier - I had a poor picture with Ghosting, replaced the cable and added an amplifer - I now have better picture on the PVR than on the TV!

Ive noticed the picture on my MCE500 can be poor. I read somewhere that there are issues with PAL comb filters on these cards. Maybe NTSC users have different experiences.
