System Specs:
P4 2ghz 512MB RAM
PNY Nvidia Geforce FX 5200
ATI TV Wonder Elite
Windows XP SP2

I'm just setting up this PC to be a PVR but when I hook the TV-Out to my tv using the S-video, the text is blurry, image is somewhat soft. I have the latest Nvideo drivers. I tried setting the video resolution to different settings: 1024x768, 800x600, 640x480 and changing the nvidia specific settings for contrast, gamma, image sharpener but it still looks blurry. Some settings have been better than others.

Should the text within Windows (such as the "My Computer" icon) be more clear? I haven't installed GBPVR yet as I'm trying to get this fixed first.

Also, I have an older ATI Radeon 7800 and was wondering if I should use that instead or would I get an even worse picture?

I'm using a standard definition TV (JVC 27").

Watch a movie in Media Player fullscreen and see how it looks. You'll never get the desktop to look good on a standard TV. The resolution is low and the display is interlaced. However, video should look good, as will apps meant to be viewed on a TV, like GB-PVR or MCE. I normally view with an MVP, not a dedicated PC, but occasionally I'll use my laptop to watch something upstairs. The desktop looks like crap on the TV, but once the video starts it looks as good as cable. I would optimize all those settings for video playback, which is what you really want to look good.

Thanks for the replys. I checked out that thread and it helps quite a bit. My best bet is probably to invest in a HDTV at some point and/or better video card. I'll test playing movies with this setup though and see how GBPVR works.
