I got a PVR 500 MCE and as you know this one has two tuners.
if I record something manually or by timer on lets say tuner 2
and then later tries to watch TV on the other turner it wont let me.

As Ive tried to figure this one out, Ive noticed that if i record on tuner 2
and the LAST tuner i used for watching TV was this tuner 2 or if i record on
tuner 1 and my last tv watching was on that tuner, i just cant get in.
but if i record on tuner 2 and my last tuner for wathing tv was 1, it works.

it tells me that no tuners are available for watching.
I cant recall the exact errortext it says, but if you try this, you should get the error right away.

is this the way it's supposed to work?

I'm not at my computer to look at the config program but you need to be sure you give each tuner a different name such as Tuner 1, Tuner 2. I believe it defaults to the same name for each one.
Sorry I could be more specific right now but I had the same problem when first setting up my 500.

Yes, I did name them different, since if they are the same I couldn't use both of them at all, even the channels, as i set them manually, has different names.

You may recall some other thread I wrote, were I said that If I used xmltv to name them the channelnames were the same, so when I tried to set timers to the same recodingtime, I couldnt see on the channelnames which tuner was which.

Are you set up so that tuner 1 is PVR-500 with FM, and tuner 2 is just PVR-500?
Do both tuners show up in device mangler with no yellow ! marks?
You can never have enough tuners!

Do you have a proper EPG or did you manually add your channels?

I cant recall which tuner has the FM tuner in it, but one of them has that, yes.

And if you by Device Mangler mean Device Manager in XP then yes no problem there, since I can use both, but NOT as i described it.

EPG? I gotta be stupid cos i cant remember what this stands for :p
but yes, i DID add the channels manually, since the xmltv named both tuners' channels with the same name, so i cant use that. that gave me the error im describing here, that's why i had to add them manually.
but i sure whish i could use the xmltv, cos it looks to good and has description and all. And this may be easier for wifey to handle when i install her TV card into her computer which is the same card
