I have gbpvr setup to record a certain program on a specific date/time each week. I do this by selecting the program in the guide, choosing the program on this channel each week. SOP

Now for some reason, my program guide update fails so the following week there is no guide data for that show. It's completely empty. gbpvr fails to record the show (in the recordings list, it has Failed against it) but there is nothing in the log to indicate the failure.

Does gbpvr check the program guide to see if for that date/time the program that has been set to record each week, has a listing and if there is no listing, not record?

Now if I set the recording manually, and choose same time each week on a particular day, gbpvr would not check the program guide and so whether or not it was empty, the recording should take place?

Is that the way the program is supposed to operate?

Thanks

If I understand you correctly, then you are correct in your assumptions, yes. Season recordings only record stuff when it's in the EPG. What is weird is that is listed as "failed". It should not be listed at all if it's not in the EPG.

Could it be that it *has* been listed at one time, but for some reason you have done an EPG update that has resulted in a day that previously had listings, but now don't?

GBPVR has some logic to reschedule recordings if they have moved in the EPG (say, for example, that show A moved from 8pm to 8:15pm, then GBPVR will reschedule it).

I can imagine that the recording would show up as failed if GBPVR did schedule it once (because it was in the EPG), but later rescheduled it (removed it) because it is no longer in the EPG...

I think you're right. The program I have been recording is weekly and I have been recording it fine. But one particular week for some reason the program data in the guide was missing (in fact the entire channel had no data in it for about 2 days). So gbpvr tried to record it (season pass I guess) and perhaps then looked in the guide to get more details? Finding no guide data the recording failed but there was no log entry.

Now since if I had scheduled the recording manually without reference to guide data (I often have to do that when I lose guide data), this problem would not have occurred I guess. Maybe we need an option to tell gbpvr that for a season pass (regularly scheduled recording) to record at that time/channel irrespective of whether or not there is guide data
