During playback if I FFWD the sound is lost. If the audio renderer is configured to use the directX audio output the sound comes back when I change to liveTV. If I have the renderer go direct to the WAVE device the sound doesn't come back. However if I go to the audio settings I see that the Wave volume has been turned down and I can just turn it up again. Is this some kind of bug where the sound is turned off for ffwd but doesn't come back on?

If I watch the same recorded TV with WINDVD I get sound during and after FFWD.

I have tried the Microsoft Audio decoder and also the Intevideo and AC3. The last two appear to actually use FFDSHOW

Thanks

It can be very hard to not use ffdshowSmile
You problem might be solved by setting : use shortskip instead of ff/rw in config-misc tab.

I have noticed this problem too, and I can confirm that using shortskip is a valid workaround, but I wonder if there is somehow to go about fixing the problem.

Thanks for the workaround.

I would be happy to try and help diagnose the bug if there's anything I can provide....

Cheers

I experienced the same problem and I've no solution yet.
It's an audio decoder problem. I've had FF/RW working until 96.12 then with 97.x all stopped.
I've tried different audio configurations but with poor or no results.
When I set Microsoft MP as audio decoder I found that after a FF/RW and no sound, by changing the "Wave" output level in "Volume advanced control" get the sound back.
That's all I saw until now
If that could help someone…

I have 96.12 with this problem... It's not a GBPVR issue but a specific combination of codecs.

Sub said he thinks he can help in a future release, but this is untested. Look for other threads with this issue, that I opened. Sub gives a bit of info there.
