I have a Pace 1000 NTL box, can a red-eye serial be used directly with gbpvr, or would i have to get myself a UIRT and a red-eye IRDA convertor?
As far as i can tell, the red-eye serial plugs directly into the PC via serial port and provides the NTL IR codes directly, while if you want to use an UIRT you have to also use a red-eye convertor as the UIRT does not supply the correct codes for the NTL boxes.
Obviously just using the red-eye serial would be the better solution as (a) it only needs on thing buying. and (b) my PVR PC is going to be in a totally different room to the STB, and a serial cable can run this distance easilly
